The Wall Street Journal Leadership Institute is designed to help business leaders master a world of accelerating change. About the Role
We are seeking a strategic and results-driven Head of Membership to lead the overall management, growth, and retention of our executive membership program. This senior role is critical to the success of the Institute, overseeing a team of Council Managers and the Membership Renewal team, and driving all aspects of the membership lifecycle to ensure continuous growth and member satisfaction.
You Will:
Develop and execute a comprehensive, data-driven strategy for membership acquisition, retention, and growth, aligned with the Institute's financial and business goals.
Lead and mentor a team of Council Managers to ensure the delivery of a world-class member experience and a high level of engagement within each executive council.
Oversee the Membership Renewal team, establishing best practices and processes to achieve high retention rates and manage at-risk members.
Collaborate with sales, marketing, product, and content teams to align membership strategy with broader organizational initiatives.
Drive new membership sales and revenue growth through strategic planning, market analysis, and the development of compelling value propositions.
Leverage a strong sales background to identify new opportunities for growth, including partnerships and market expansion.
Monitor and analyze membership data to forecast trends, measure performance, and inform strategic decisions.
Drive the implementation and adoption of a CRM tool to support across all councils, centering membership data and insights
Ensure a consistently high-quality experience for all members, from onboarding to daily engagement and renewals.
Work with Council Managers to curate and deliver relevant, high-impact programming and content that meets the evolving needs of executive members.
Act as a key representative of the Leadership Institute, building relationships with high-level members and stakeholders.
You Have:
Bachelor's degree required; MBA or other advanced degree is a plus.
10+ years of progressive experience in sales, membership management, or business development, with a significant portion of that time spent in a leadership role.
Proven track record of success in meeting and exceeding sales targets and revenue goals.
Extensive experience managing and developing high-performing teams, specifically in sales or customer-facing roles.
Exceptional strategic planning, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage with C-suite executives and senior leaders.
Expertise in using CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce) and interpreting data to drive business decisions.
A deep understanding of the executive education or peer community landscape.

Pay Range: $145,000 - $175,000
