Rutgers University-Camden is seeking an Associate Director of Athletics and Recreation. The Associate Director of Athletics and Recreation will serve on the athletic leadership team advising the Director of Athletics on departmental matters and strategic and development planning. This position will have formal supervisory responsibilities for multiple employees, identified athletic programs, and additional areas that foster athletic success and academic excellence within the department. The Associate Director will be responsible for all NCAA Compliance and will provide a variety of training for student-athletes and staff. Additionally, this candidate will assist in achieving annual departmental fundraising goals, commit to supporting the holistic student-athlete with special consideration to mental health and overall wellness of student-athletes, and demonstrate a collaborative management style to work across campus with all constituencies.
The Associate Director of Athletics and Recreation will provide extended oversight of the NCAA Division III Intercollegiate Athletic Program at Rutgers University-Camden, in addition will assist with the development and implementation of NCAA Division III programing, compliant with regulations of the NCAA. The Associate Director will supervise & assess designated sport programs and manage day-to-day operations in accordance with the Director of Athletics and Recreation. Incumbent will be responsible for coordinating and conducting training for the coaching staff in areas of NCAA compliance, university, conference and department rules, policies and procedures, along with additional professional development training, ensuring that all department members have full knowledge of and abide by the rules and regulations of the University, the NCAA, and the NJAC Conference. They will promote a competitive athletic atmosphere consistent with the NCAA DIII philosophy.
The key duties and responsibilities of the Associate Director of Athletics and Recreation include serving as the department NCAA Compliance Officer, supervision and training coaching staff, oversight of the athletic training services and vendor partnership, coordination of travel and scheduling for all departmental team travel and managing all student-athlete success initiatives.The Associate Director of Athletics and Recreation will demonstrate emotional intelligence and adaptability to adverse situations; a strong commitment and the ability to enhance student-athlete experiences through positive motivation and applicable support. This role will serve in areas of importance for the Department as directed by the Director of Athletics and will represent the university to various constituents in a professional manner.
