We are currently hiring an Associate Director in Mechanical Engineering to join the Advanced Airframes Department of the Mechanical Engineering organization located in Tucson, AZ. This position is to support the Transition to Production (TTP) phase of a proprietary program as the Airframe Execution Lead.
The Airframe Execution Lead is responsible to provide leadership for the team for all Non-Recurring and Recurring tasks to ensure delivery of the system per program plan. The IPT structure will be determined by the Lead, who will also manage the suppliers in both technical and cost/schedule parameters. The role requires a high level of execution expertise coupled with the ability to lead a dynamic, high visibility program. The additional responsibilities of the role include ensuring all Mechanical related scope across the program is executed per program plan, with a cohesive technical approach, drawing release plan and compliant to our robust execution practices.
Fulfillment of this job requisition is contingent on program contract award.
What You Will Do The Airframe Execution Lead is responsible for the integration of test equipment, integration material, tooling as well as all documentation necessary for the IPT such as test requirements documents and work instructions.
Responsibilities also include, but are not limited to:
Cost and schedule responsibilities for the IPT, Sub-IPTs, sub-tier suppliers within Airframe IPT, and the Mechanical budget across the program. Report business metrics to both the program and functional leadership including Estimates At Complete (EAC) responsibility for Mechanical.
Provide the technical execution leadership required to develop, integrate & prove-in test equipment and associated integration assets.
As a member of the Program Leadership Team, contribute to developing and aligning common program vision, execution strategies, and plans so that the entire Leadership Team communicates with one voice to the team throughout execution.
Provide program leadership to the Sub-IPTs and many collaborative partners from Engineering, Operations, Mission Assurance, and Global Supply Chain.
Actively work to identify, manage, and mitigate risks or capture opportunities.
Provide mentoring and guidance to all team members.
Qualifications You Must Have Typically requires a Bachelor's in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM preferred) and a minimum of 12 years of prior engineering experience.
Experience in Airframe design and/or production
Experience managing teams of 10 or more in a technical capacity
Experience using program management tools such as Earned Value Management System (EVMS), Integrated Master Plan (IMP) / Integrated Master Schedule (IMS), and Risk and Opportunity Management to identify issues and develop recommended courses of action to management
Qualifications We Prefer Experience with hypersonic airframe design and environments
Experience with leading development and maintenance across multiple program sites
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Cost Account Manager experience
Program Management certification or experience
Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering
Excellent presentation and proposal skills
Ability to manage multiple and competing priorities
Master's degree in Engineering, Physics, or related discipline
DoD Top Secret Clearance
