Associate Director, Field Medical Affairs, Psychiatry in collaboration with the broader Medical Affairs team, will be responsible for the development and implementation of strategic plans and objectives that support Axsome's marketed and pipeline products and associated disease states. The Associate Director, Field Medical Affairs, Psychiatry will build and mentor their direct reports on their regional Psychiatry MSL team and be responsible for driving performance.This is a field-based position covering the West Coast region with a strong preference for candidates that live within the geography. Job Responsibilities and Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:Medical Affairs:Ensure regular capture and exchange of medical information and insights with other functions as appropriate for Medical Affairs to inform on strategy and unmet medical needsServe as a technical advisor and represent Medical Affairs at scientific and/or medical meetings, advisory boards, and investigator meetingsEstablish and maintain a compliant partnerships with various internal functions, including commercialSupport/lead various Medical Affairs cross-functional efforts as neededDevelop and maintain thought leader relationshipsMaintain and demonstrate thorough and up-to-date knowledge of disease state, study methodology, clinical information, and product dataManage assigned programs within their designated scope, schedule, and budgetTeam Development/Management:Work with co-lead to develop and oversee execution of team activities in alignment with Medical strategyRecruit, train, develop and retain a growing, high-performing team of field-based MSLsEnsure individual MSL territory plans and activities for the region align with departmental objectivesEstablish and oversee collaboration between MSLs to support and optimize communication of key learnings, best practices, and insights generationIdentify and implement unmet educational needs for MSL materialsRepresent MSL team on clinical study and project teamsManage the performance of the individual team members and monitor their overall performance by regularly monitoring their performance against the agreed goals and KPIs.Conduct regular performance reviews for individual team membersEnsure field compliance of all relevant corporate policies and regulatory guidelinesDirect field-based Medical Affairs attendance and coverage at congresses and meetingsEnsure operational excellence of the MSL team, including corporate aligned objective/tactics, cross-functional medical support, and interactions with key opinion leadersRequirements / QualificationsAdvanced scientific or clinical degree (D.O, M.D, PharmD, or PhD) is requiredAt least 5 years of experience in a field-based Medical Affairs role is requiredAt least 2 years of experience leading MSL teams preferredCNS experience required. We encourage candidates of all levels to apply as there may be flexibility on final job title and responsibilities. The salary offer will be based on a variety of factors, including experience, qualifications, internal equity and location.
