Overview The primary role of the Associate Director of Commercial Operations - Packs & Activity Management is to lead a team of associates to the development and execution of procurement operational strategy for all packaging materials for Mars PNNA in support of all production sites within North America, and to manage Commercial Activity and Invoice Resolution Management for the Commercial organization. The Commercial Operations team is the key interface across our 270+ suppliers, Commercial Sourcing & SQA, and key stakeholders such as Planning, Supply, R&D, Finance, Quality, Manufacturing and Activity Management. This leader is responsible for inbound supply chain strategy development, supplier performance improvement, contract sufficiency & proactive risk management, and value leadership deployment of the packaging category, ensuring the seamless execution of innovation, working capital optimization, and invoice resolution activities. Key responsibilities Development of “High Performance” Teams Deliver Growth Innovation - New Product Launches, Supplier Performance, and Speed to Market Support business CSL delivery through on time & in full fulfillment of all materials Supply Risk Mitigation, including resilience Supplier Performance & Relationship Management Ensure KPIs for invoice resolution are maintained at acceptable levels to adhere to pay clock compliance Own Commercial processes that support Net Working Capital within our organization Qualifications Experience in FMCG or CPG industry Master’s degree in business, Logistics, Economics, or Supply Chain Management Minimum 10 years of Procurement and General Supply Chain experience in a progressive environment Digitally curious and proficient in Power BI, SAP and MRP systems Excellent understanding of end-to-end supply chain In-depth understanding of Supplier Performance and Relationship Management programs, continuous improvement programs, Risk Mitigation strategies; Procure-to-Pay technologies; Root cause of Demand, Inventory, and understanding of Supply Chain processes, Import/Export Compliance activities, and P&L analysis Strong project management and leadership capabilities Ability to work under pressure Sound interpersonal and people leadership skills Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English Strong analytical skills and ability to work with complex data Experience in commodity markets and/or materials sourcing What will be your key responsibilities? People Leader of 5 direct associates and Manager of Managers with 5 associates Develop a High Performing Commercial Operations Team – Packaging and Commercial Activity Management and drive associate engagement Develop and ensure execution of strategies that improve the agility and reliability of the supply base for new product launches and line extensions Develop and execute strategies to ensure fulfillment of materials across the manufacturing plants within the North America region Measure and drive improvements to Supplier OTIF (On Time In Full) through scorecards and root cause corrective actions Continuous improvement of suppliers’ performance and relationships management Partners with sourcing associates to assure purchasing contract accuracy, contract adherence and contract reporting Ensure deployment of Strategic Sourcing Strategy as well as Productivity projects in 0-18 months Drive and engage across functional partnerships through appropriate feeder forums for S&OP+ horizon Innovation/Launch Activity Material Management which feeds into Step 1 and Step 3 of S&OP+ Enable our Productivity ambition through communicating critical supplier transitions Drive effective relationships with key internal clients, especially R&D and Marketing, to ensure delivery of business plans at or ahead of targets; coordinate with regional and global counterparts for appropriate Commercial representation in internal processes Support the Innovation and Renovation Process and prioritize critical materials and information Manage global payment term program to ensure timely invoice management, reconciliation, and lead escalations to resolve issues Engage and collaborate with other functions (Planning and Sourcing are the highest priority) and other segment Commercial Operations teams Enable Operations Leadership team to drive solutions across peer leader community (inside & outside of Commercial) Bring external insights into Mars to add value Learn from internal and external sources to develop knowledge and be recognized as the go-to expert What can you expect from Mars?
