Description
This position is primarily responsible, under the supervision of the Aquatic Director, for assisting in the planning, organizing, directing, budgeting, and evaluating programs within his/her area of responsibility, in accordance with the mission, purposes, and policies of the association. Additional responsibilities include recruiting, orienting, training, and supervising all staff, paid and volunteer, related to his/her area. This position will act on behalf of the Aquatic Director in his/her absence and shall work within the guidelines of the aquatic policies.

Compensation: $50,000 - $58,000 / year
Key Responsibilities:
Provide excellent member service by exceeding expectations.
Engage actively with members to build relationships and understand their goals.
Recruit, schedule, and supervise lifeguard and instructor personnel in consultation with the Aquatic Director.
Develop and monitor the Aquatics budget.
Plan and schedule program facilities for smooth operations.
Review staff, class, and pool scheduling.
Assist with instructional swim programs and teach/guard as needed (up to 20 hours/week).
Assist with registration, answer member/staff questions, and provide ongoing training.
Oversee safety training, drills, and documentation.
Maintain facility and equipment, order supplies, and record statistics.
Establish relationships with community agencies and promote programs through media.
Participate in staff meetings and stay current with training and certifications.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills, Knowledge, and Education:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
At least 21 years old with YMCA Lifeguarding certification (or Red Cross, with crossover within 6 months).
Minimum two years of aquatic instruction, management, and pool maintenance experience.
Experience supervising staff, developing schedules, and maintaining good member/staff relations.
Knowledge of YMCA trends and certifications.
Physical Demands:
Interact physically and verbally with members/staff.
Work involves guarding/instruction for about half the hours.
Lift up to 50 lbs.
Work Environment:
Moderate noise level.
Some evenings, weekends, early mornings, and holidays required.
Travel for trainings/meetings.
Training/Certifications:
