Description & Details: The office of International Student and Study Abroad Services (ISSAS) at NDSU seeks an Assistant Director of Study Abroad to bring new perspectives and innovations to our team with the goal of increasing access to and participation in education abroad, including the National Student Exchange. The Assistant Director for Study Abroad will work as part of the office's leadership team to establish a vision and strategy for study abroad, which will also help shape NDSU's internationalization priorities. The successful candidate will possess a growth mindset and enjoy working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. The primary responsibilities of the Assistant Director for Study Abroad include:1. Providing leadership of NDSU study abroad program portfolio: This requires, among other duties, supervising two study abroad coordinators, engaging with campus stakeholders and faculty to establish strong relationships and visibility across campus, managing operating and programmatic budgets, and pursuing opportunities to evolve study abroad in line with current student expectations. 2. Maintaining exchange partnerships: In conjunction with ISSAS leadership, assess exchange partnerships, identify new opportunities for student mobility, and ensure robust communication and engagement with current partners. 3. Providing leadership in ISSAS: This requires taking part in regular meetings as part of ISSAS leadership with the goal of advancing NDSU’s internationalization goals through innovation, relationship building across campus, and engaging in professional organizations. Work Schedule: Monday through Friday 8AM-5PM, 7:30AM-4PM during breaks and summer. Occasional work during evenings and weekends may be required. Hiring Range: $55,000+ DOE and excellent benefits Pay is based on several factors, including budget, labor market, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and/or certification and other business considerations. Minimum Qualifications: Master’s degree and 3 years’ experience, Bachelor’s degree and 5 years’ experience, or 9 or more years’ experience administering study abroad programs and/or managing international partnerships or other professional experience demonstrating knowledge of intercultural learning and student development. Demonstrable knowledge of trends in international education and student mobility. At least one year of experience supervising others. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.At least six months’ experience living, working, or studying abroad. Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of risk management, compliance and best practices in study abroad.Demonstrable ability to cultivate partnerships with faculty and external stakeholders to expand global learning opportunities and participation.Ability to speak, read or write at least one language other than English.
