ABOUT THE ROLE You will play a vital role in the enhancement and growth of the Office of Field Services, ensuring that AIDB’s culture of inclusion is reinforced and that employees and consumers feel connected, recognized, and proud to be part of the organization. Your position will provide assistance to the Executive Director of the Office of Field Services regarding programmatic development and partnership including external funding sources; updates of external public relations materials (handbook, brochures, website, and other media), accreditation training, strategic planning, staff training; oversight of Early Intervention program, performance evaluation, and budget management and accountability.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Education, Rehabilitation Counseling, Rehabilitation Teaching, Social Work, or a closely related field.
Minimum of three years of experience working in an Education/Rehabilitation facility.
Minimum of three years relevant experience in supervision and building/leading a team.
Demonstrated supervisory/administrative experience including crisis management, managing multiple projects, and working with ambiguity.
Demonstrated knowledge of federal statutes/laws in rehabilitation, workforce development, educational administration, and programming, particularly regarding individuals with sensory loss.
Proven ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, consumers and their families; program graduates; advisory groups; and agencies such as the Alabama Department of Rehabilitation Services.
Demonstrated maturity, self-motivation, and the ability to exercise sound judgment.
Demonstrated ability to participate as a contributing and responsible member of an executive team and an approach to administration, including proven excellent people skills and ability to work on multiple teams.
Must either possess or develop an understanding of cultures and educational/rehabilitation needs of persons who are Deaf, Hard of Hearing, Blind, Low Vision, or DeafBlind, ensuring all actions and decisions demonstrate a respect for and value of persons with sensory loss.
Minimum of three years of experience in Early Intervention.
Preferred Qualifications:
Advanced degree in Education, Rehabilitation Counseling, Rehabilitation Teaching, Social Work, or a closely related field.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Must demonstrate competency in BRAILLE by scoring 80% on the AIDB Braille Skills Assessment within the first twenty-four (24) months of employment.
A sign language proficiency level of INTERMEDIATE according to the AIDB evaluation system is required within thirty-six (36) months of employment.
Must complete AIDB online training on Deafness, Blindness, Visual Impairments, DeafBlindness, and Multiple Disabilities within the first twelve (12) months of hire.
Must be willing and able to work a flexible schedule to include holidays, nights and weekends.
Must be willing to travel state and nationally to represent the Office of Field Services and AIDB.
Upon offer of employment, the applicant must submit to a fingerprint background check at an agency designated and paid by AIDB
