Position Summary:
The Assistant Director of Surgical Services is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the department, including assisting with the supervision of personnel, managing procedures, ordering supplies and equipment, and managing schedules. This role demands strong organizational and communication skills, the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment, and the capacity to supervise multiple areas effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee and manage the daily operations of the Surgical Services department.
Assist in the supervision of surgical staff and other personnel, ensuring adherence to policies and procedures.
Manage and coordinate the scheduling of surgical procedures and related activities.
Monitor and manage inventory levels of surgical supplies and equipment, ensuring necessary resources are available for procedures.
Maintain high standards of patient care and ensure compliance with safety and quality protocols.
Foster a collaborative environment among surgical team members and other healthcare professionals.
Ensure the department operates efficiently, addressing any issues related to staffing, procedures, and patient flow.
Communicate effectively with department staff, physicians, and other stakeholders to ensure the smooth operation of surgical services.
Education: Required: Academic degree in nursing (Bachelor's or Master's degree).
Required: Master's degree in Nursing or a related field (e.g., Health Administration, Business, Public Health, or Management).
Experience: Required: Minimum of 2 years of progressive management experience in a hospital environment, such as a manager, charge nurse, or a similar leadership position.
Certifications/Registrations/Licenses: Required: Must be currently licensed, certified, or registered to practice as required by law, regulation, or policy in the state of practice.
Required: CPR certification.
Skills and Certifications: Minimum 2 years of RN OR experience.
Minimum 2 years of progressive leadership experience.
