Assistant Director of Signature Events page is loaded Assistant Director of Signature Events Apply locations A - 66 West 12th Street time type Full time posted on Posted 10 Days Ago job requisition id JR107564 The New School is seeking an experienced, highly motivated, socially engaged university administrator to serve as the Assistant Director of Signature Events in the Office of Student Success Strategy and Operations, reporting to the Senior Director of Strategic Initiatives for Student Success. The Assistant Director reports to the Senior Director of Strategic Initiatives and provides high-level support for the development, implementation, and assessment of robust signature programming designed to support students and their families during their journey into and through the university. They will play a critical role to ensure smooth day-to-day operations, adherence to university policies and coordination within the office and support events, programs, resources, and tools that promote academic, social, and cultural integration into university life and enhance a sense of community. The ideal candidate for the Assistant Director must have experience working in a fast-paced, data-driven, and creative environment; and a passion for working with creative and highly engaged students. This position requires strong organizational and creative skills and the demonstrated ability to perform a variety of complex and diverse tasks. The Assistant Director will possess the interpersonal skills necessary to successfully liaise, negotiate, and collaborate with colleagues across all levels of the university and external partners. RESPONSIBILITIES Oversee logistical support for Family Engagements throughout the year, including but not limited to Family Orientation and Family Weekend. This includes event logistics, set-up, volunteer support, and vendor relations.
Assist in responding to questions and requests for support that come through the non-person family email account.
Plan and execute various annual Commencement programming for graduating students, including but not limited to our grad fair, 100 Nights Until Graduation Happy Hour, Graduate Boat Cruise, and supporting regalia distribution.
Support the College Event Planners with various event logistics in preparation for the College Recognition Ceremonies.
Manage the responses to questions and requests for support that come through the non-person commencement email account.
Assist in the management of the departmental budget through accurate tracking and receipt reconciliation.
Supervise student workers including Graduate Assistants.
Serve as on-site coordinator for events as needed.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor’s degree.
Experience planning and/or implementing events.
Experience with customer service, demonstrating interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
Experience working in a fast-paced office environment.
Proficiency in project management.
Demonstrated collaboration skills with the ability to work well with diverse populations (community members, faculty, staff, and students).
Multicultural competence and a demonstrated commitment to diversity in all forms.
Ability to prioritize, handle multiple deadlines and projects.
Self-starter with an interest in working in a highly collaborative team environment.
Available for evening and weekend hours occasionally throughout the year.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 1-3 years work experience in a student affairs/higher education setting.
Proficiency in software applications including or similar to Canva, Tassel (previously MarchingOrder), Starfish, and Banner a plus.
WORK MODE Hybrid/Split - Employees hired for this position have regularly scheduled, consistent percentage of time on campus (ex 1-4x/week) and also work some of the time remotely. #LI-HYBRID
