We are seeking a dedicated nursing leader to plan, organize, develop, and direct the Nursing Service Department in accordance with federal, state, and local standards governing long-term care and assisted living facilities. The role focuses on delivering the highest quality care to residents. Location: Denver, CO area (Thornton Care Center) Position Summary The primary responsibility of this position is to assist with planning, organizing, developing, and directing the overall operation of the Nursing Service Department following regulations that govern long-term care and assisted living facilities. You will ensure the highest degree of quality care for residents at all times. Key Responsibilities Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate, and direct the nursing service department and its programs and activities Develop, maintain, and update written policies and procedures for day-to-day functional governance of the nursing service department Perform administrative duties such as completing medical forms, reports, evaluations, studies, and charting Determine staffing needs and recommend the number and level of nursing personnel to be employed Assist in calculating the number of direct nursing personnel on duty each shift Ensure all nursing assistants are enrolled in or have completed an approved training program Develop work assignments and schedule duty hours Make daily rounds to ensure staff are performing duties Review complaints and grievances and administer fair disciplinary actions Participate in interviewing and selecting residents for admission Develop written plans of care for each resident identifying problems, care to be given, goals, and responsible professionals Prepare and plan the nursing service department's budget and submit to the Administrator Schedule, attend, and participate in nursing service meetings Demonstrate a passion for caring in interactions with residents, families, and staff Perform other duties as assigned Skills, Knowledge & Personal Qualities Ability to demonstrate caring attitude and genuine interest in others Friendliness, enthusiasm, and the ability to build relationships with diverse people Effective communication skills Self-directed with the ability to organize and prioritize Judgment, attention to detail, and follow-through Strategic thinking and problem-solving; creative option generation Curiosity and desire to learn Education Must be a graduate of an approved Registered Nurse program and maintain a current, active RN license in the state Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred Experience Minimum of one (1) year of experience as a supervisor in a hospital, nursing care facility, or related health care facility Prefer a minimum of six (6) months experience in rehabilitative and restorative nursing practices Work Environment Moves intermittently during working hours and is subject to frequent interruptions Engages with residents, personnel, visitors, and government agencies under various conditions Subject to hostile or emotionally upset residents or family members Works beyond normal hours, weekends, and may cover other positions as necessary Subject to call back during emergencies and exposure to health and safety risks Physical Requirements Ability to relate to and work with ill, disabled, elderly, and emotionally upset individuals Must meet health requirements, including a health and physical examination Vision and hearing capabilities adequate for the role; may use assistive devices Must be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift at least 25 pounds and carry weight for specified distances May assist in resident evacuation during emergencies Seniority level Mid-Senior level Employment type Full-time Job function Health Care Provider Industries Hospitals and Health Care Note: This description reflects the responsibilities and requirements of the role as posted; any references to locations and items are based on the original posting.
