ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF NURSING

ABOUT THE LEGACY LIVING AND REHABILITATION CENTER The Legacy Living and Rehabilitation Center, part of Campbell County Health's comprehensive system of care facilities, is a long-term care facility offering both long-term care and short-term rehabilitation services in Gillette, Wyoming. JOB SUMMARY The Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) supports the LTC Director of Nursing in the planning, direction, organization and leadership in the delivery of services within the nursing department at the Legacy. The ADON acts as liaison between other organizational departments and medical staff to assure there is effective communication in the planning of quality resident care. Effectively leads nursing staff in direct management of staff and resident cares in conjunction with the Director of Nursing and House Supervisors. The ADON facilitates quality resident care consistent with the Wyoming Nurse Practice Act, American Nurses Association professional standards, National Patient Safety Goals, and CMS guidelines. The ADON's work is reflective of CCH mission, vision and values. The ADON ensures the standards of resident care and practice are consistent with current national standards and regulatory requirements, fostering an environment of professionalism, ethical practice and engagement. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

* Assists Director of Nursing in providing direction and development of department goals and objectives, policies and procedures as well as oversight for the standards of clinical practice. * Promotes service excellence through education, coaching and implementation of Excellence Every Day principles and must haves. * Keeps abreast of current developments in resident care, providing oversight of in-service training and competencies of employees. * Accountable for overall resident care and provides guidance and leadership to those who plan and administer resident care. * Follows QAPI process for quality and performance improvement and provides QAPI leadership for nursing staff. * Participates and contributes to operational planning, Long Term Care and organizational activities and functions. * Models and fosters a positive team approach, promoting a sphere of leadership that is proistive and services as a mentor to staff. * Participates in antimicrobial stewardship. * Fosters a professional practice environment, facilitation interdisciplinary processes, evidence based practice and management, and staff engagement. * Promotes sound fiscal performance by reviewing monthly financial statistics and assisting the Director of Nursing in effective budgeting process. * Knowledge of Long Term Care Medicare and Medicaid rules and regulations, including resident assessment (RAI) and minimum data set (MDS). * Maintains compliance with CMS standards by participating in QAPI and in the policy review process including MDS. * Evaluates human resource needs, including recruitment and retention of staff. * Responsible for interviewing, hiring, evaluating and dsicplinary actions in conjunction with the Director of Nursing and House Supervisors. * Assists in the development of the operating and capital budgets in conjunction with the Administrator and LTC Director of Nursing. * Monitors and ensures target of HPPD for facility and individual nursing units. * Develops and maintains productive working relationships with inter- and intra-departmental personnel, medical staff, community, resident and family members. * Keeps abreast of best practice in long-term care and skilled nursing care, and ensures competencies of nursing staff. * Initiates and evaluates patient care delivery systems and oversees the continuous quality improvement efforts. * Provides service excellence to all customers in accordance with AIDET, Excellence Every Day, and Standards of Behavior. * Demonstrates efficient time management and prioritization skills. * Maintains professional standards related to clinical practice, staffing and continuing education. * Practices fiscal responsibility and accountability. * Adheres to CCH and Legacy policies and procedures. * Complies with the hospital's Corporate Compliance Program including, but not limited to, the Code of Conduct, laws and regulations, and hospital policies and procedures. * Must be free from governmental sanctions involving health care and/or financial practices. * Performs other duties as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

* Experience

* Must have, as a minimum, one (1) year of experience as a supervisor in a hospital, nursing care facility, or other related health care facility.

* Minimum (6) months experience in rehabilitative and restorative nursing practices preferred

* Education

* Must be a graduate of an approved Registered Nurse program. BSN preferred

* License

* Current, unencumbered, active license to practice as RN in Wyoming, CPR Certification
