WORK SCHEDULE: Full-Time / Either Sunday – Thursday or Tuesday - Saturday SALARY: $70,000 - $90,000 / Annually depending on experience and qualifications
JOB SUMMARY: As the Assistant Director of Nursing / Infection Preventionist (ADON/IP) , you will play a key leadership role in supporting the planning, organization, and oversight of our Nursing Services Department. Your primary responsibility is to help ensure that our clinical operations meet and exceed federal, state, and local standards for long-term care and assisted living — all while fostering a culture of safety, compassion, and excellence. You’ll be entrusted with maintaining the highest level of quality care for our residents, championing infection prevention protocols, and collaborating with a dedicated team to create a healing and supportive environment. JOB DUTIES: Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate, and direct the nursing service department, as well as its programs and activities
Develop, maintain, and periodically update written policies and procedures that govern the day-to-day functions of the nursing service department
Perform administrative duties such as completing medical forms, reports, evaluations, studies, charting, etc., as necessary
Determine the staffing needs
Recommend the number and level of nursing personnel to be employed
Assist in calculating the number of direct nursing personnel care on duty each shift
Ensure that all nursing assistants are enrolled in or have graduated from an approved training program
Develop work assignments and schedule duty hours
Make daily rounds of the nursing service department to ensure all nursing personnel are performing their work assignments
Review complaints and grievances made or filed by department personnel
Ensure that disciplinary action is administered fairly
Participate in the interviewing and selection of residents for admission
Develop a written plan of care for each resident that identifies the problems/needs, indicated the care to be given, goals to be accomplished, and which professional service is responsible for each element of care
Prepare and plan the nursing service department's budget and submit to the Administrator.
Schedule, attend, and participate in nursing service meetings
Demonstrate a passion for caring as evidenced by interaction with co-workers, residents, families, and visitors
Perform all other duties, as assigned
REQUIREMENTS: Education / Skills / Experience Must be a graduate of an approved Registered Nurse program. Must maintain a current, unencumbered, active license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state
Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred
Must have, as a minimum, one (1) year of experience as a supervisor in a hospital, nursing care facility, or other related health care facility
Prefer a minimum (6) months experience in rehabilitative and restorative nursing practices
Must have Infection Prevention (IP) certification
Must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age-related needs of the residents served
Must be knowledgeable of nursing and medical practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines that pertain to nursing care facilities
Must have patience, tact, a cheerful disposition and enthusiasm, as well as willingness to handle difficult residents
Work Environment: Moves intermittently during working hours.
Is subject to frequent interruptions.
Is involved with residents, personnel, visitors, government agencies/personnel, etc., under all conditions and circumstances.
Is subject to hostile and emotionally upset residents, family members, etc.
Works beyond normal duty hours, on weekends, and in other positions temporarily, when necessary.
Is subject to call back during emergency conditions (e.g., severe weather, evacuation, post-disaster, etc.).
Is subject to injury from falls, burns from equipment, odors, etc., throughout the workday, as well as reactions from dust, disinfectants, tobacco smoke, and other air contaminants.
Is subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc., including TB and the AIDS and Hepatitis B viruses.
May be subject to the handling of and exposure to hazardous chemicals.
Physical Requirements: Must be able to relate to and work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and at times hostile people within the facility
Must meet the general health requirements set forth by the policies of this facility, which include a mental and physical examination
Must possess sight/hearing senses, or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately so that the requirements of this position can be fully met
Must be able to push, pull, move, and /or lift a minimum of 25 pounds to a minimum height of 5 feet and be able to push, pull, move, and/or carry such weight a minimum distance of 50 feet
May be necessary to assist in the evacuation of residents during emergency situations
