Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP) invites applicants for Assistant Director of Financial Aid (SUA2) in the Financial Aid Department.
The Assistant Director of Financial Aid, under the supervision of the Director of Financial Aid, helps to ensure IUP’s compliance with federal, state, and institutional financial aid rules, regulations, and guidelines for administering financial aid programs. This position is directly responsible for administration and oversight of the Federal Pell Grant program, the Health and Services Administration (HRSA) grant for the Nurse Faculty Loan Program (NFLP), and processing of private/alternative student loans. The Assistant Director must bring a student-centered approach to their work and have exceptional customer service/student success and communication skills, as this position regularly works with students, families, and units across campus to problem solve, build relationships, and identity efficiencies for administering financial aid. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate strong technical, organizational, communication, and time management skills and must be able to excel whether working independently or on a team.
Position Qualifications
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree
One year of experience in the administration of financial aid, higher education, or a related field
At least three years of student success or customer service experience
PREFERRED:
Experience in Banner Financial Aid.
Candidates must have the communication skills and cross-cultural abilities to maximize their effectiveness with diverse groups of students, colleagues, and community members.
Candidates must communicate effectively and perform well in the interview(s).
Essential Functions
The work of this position occurs in a typical office environment. Although infrequent, periods of heavy exertion may occur. Incumbent must have the following abilities:
Ability to travel to field locations and meeting/training sites by motor vehicle when required.
Communicate both orally and in writing to issue, receive and carry out instructions and orders effectively and to convey information to a variety of co-workers and the general public
Use a variety of common office machines such as telephones, calculators, copiers, computer terminals, keyboards, video display terminals, auxiliary printers and similar equipment.
Perform manual duties such as lifting and carrying various weight limits.
Operate office equipment which may require stooping, kneeling, bending, stretching and prolonged standing.
Provide assistance and guidance to internal and external customers.
Follow oral and written instructions.
