As an Assistant Director of Dining Services, you will carry out our Mission of Love by ensuring the care of our residents and developing and managing dining activities.
Our Assistant Director of Dining Services is responsible for the following:
Responsible for operating and maintaining effective communication and working relationships with residents, with other areas of the Food Services Department, and with other departments to provide high quality, unified, and cost-effective dining services, and profitable retail operations. Shared accountability for producing revenue and managing costs for the Dining & Culinary Services six (6) venues in Retirement Living, i.e., The Restaurant at Clubhouse, Restaurants at Grand Lodge Hall/Cornerstone Restaurant, Courtyard Cafe, Cafe 1911, Franklin's Press, Goose & Grid Iron Tavern along with managing revenue and costs for the three (3) Gift Shops, Village Shoppe, HCC Gift Shop & Clubhouse Market.
Develop and support the partnership with MV Farm Market by applying products to the retirement living menus and provide them support with the POS system for sales.
Develop and maintain annual operating and capital budget for culinary and dining service operations relative to retirement living. Fiscally responsible for these department budgets and understanding of financial implications of decisions. Develop, implement, and follow a responsible budget that permits for future planning and development. Works with Director in finalizing the budget for these departments.
Create written objectives, and short- and long-term goals. Establishes and updates policies and procedures of standards of services to meet the requirements established by regulatory agencies for MVE and other Masonic Village facilities.
Develop annual business plans for each sector of business and present to food services director for approval. Establish and direct Quality Improvement Program for dining services, culinary services, gift shops, under the coordination of Food Services Quality Improvement Coordinator.
Effectively integrate services to improve customer interest and satisfaction. Provide different styles of service according to the type of restaurant/retail operation, speed of service, table service, take-out and delivery, or counter service. This includes methods of ordering for efficiency of labor and accuracy of goods delivered.
Direct and manage CardWatch point-of-sale system standards across campus in order to provide excellent hospitality and high-quality service to the Masonic Village residents. Responsible for developing plans, presenting programs for approval, and regular reporting of operational outcomes. Coordinates with IT Department and throughout Masonic Village facilities. Coordinate the billing system throughout Masonic Village facilities with IT and Finance.
Improve, maintain, and report customer satisfaction, with the assistance of the resident comment data base.
Oversee the Gifts Shops by leading development of operational standards, budget submission, and retail operational success. Support Retail Supervisor and Dining Services Communication Coordinator ownership of the business. Responsible for purchasing, sales, merchandising, and coordinating of volunteer scheduling with Volunteer Coordinator.
Partner with the Farm Market Manager to assist with development and implementation of software systems, recommend and oversee product pricing strategies to increase profit, and brand expansion (availability of products into our gift shoppes, cafes, and beyond). Demonstrates knowledge of Federal, State, and local regulations
Department of Agriculture for food safety. Knowledge of HACCP guidelines and the ability to develop and implement effective food safety programs, includes both sanitation and HACCP, in accordance with regulatory guidelines.
Certified Alcohol Manager for the Elizabethtown campus (required). Coordinated leadership of alcohol management with support of Food Service Director and COO. PLCB requires a manager of the license. This position is appointed as the individual manager for this licensed establishment. The manager shall devote time and attention to the licensed business. The manager may only be the sole manager of one licensed establishment. This person shall be a reputable person. The licensee shall notify the Board in writing of the name and home address of the manager and the date and place of birth. Background investigation of this individual is required and conducted through application to the PLCB to obtain or verify information regarding an individual appointed as manager. The designated manager shall devote full time to the licensed business and may not be employed or engaged in another business unless prior written approval is obtained from the Board.
What You Have:
Bachelor's degree or higher in Hospitality Management preferred.
Serve Safe and RAMP Certification required at the onset or within 90 days of employment.
Five to ten years of experience in hospitality management/supervision of restaurant/hotel/resort or related business required.
Excellent written and oral communication and people skills.
Familiar with computer applications (i.e. Word, Excel, data bases, POS and purchasing Systems) and cash handling.
Alcohol Management certification required at the onset or within 90 days of employment..
Proficiency in overseeing and/or managing inventory and ordering of alcoholic beverages & non-food supplies used in the Food Services Department.
