We are looking for a passionate Assistant Director to join our multidisciplinary Washington, DC clinical team and contribute to our goal of making a difference.


The Assistant Director will be a key member of our clinical leadership team by providing supervision, program development, and managing day-to-day operations to ensure high-quality care and a collaborative team culture.

What You Will Do:

  • Partner with the Site Director on program development and execution, helping to innovate site-wide initiatives that advance our mission and reflect the evolving needs of our young adult community.

  • Lead and inform clinical services through active participation in interdisciplinary treatment planning, ensuring day-to-day care is responsive, individualized, and aligned with evidence-based best practices.

  • Supervise and support clinical team members, including the Intern Program Manager and the Health & Wellness Team Manager, cultivating professional growth, clinical excellence, and strong team cohesion.

  • Oversee learning and development efforts for the clinical team, identifying training needs, facilitating group supervision, and implementing initiatives that build skills in clinical practice, documentation, and time management.

  • Lead programming for families through initiatives like Parent Collective and Family Day, ensuring family systems are supported as part of the care model.

  • Partner with Operations and Marketing to maintain accurate referral lists and support marketing initiatives that promote our services and grow our impact.

  • Serve as a key liaison between The Dorm and dWell Recovery, our brand affiliate transitional living support, to ensure integrated care and alignment across service areas.

  • Drive the development of clinical policies and ensure compliance with care delivery, documentation, and billing standards.

  • Help oversee admissions by participating in Admissions Meetings and Meet & Greets, and collaborate on thoughtful case assignments that best support client needs.

  • Maintain a small caseload, providing individual, group, and family therapy to stay closely connected to the work and model clinical excellence.

  • Coordinate team schedules, manage holiday programming, and support operational needs to ensure seamless site functioning.

  • Spearhead quarterly CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) and Narcan trainings, ensuring team readiness for safety and crisis situations.

  • Participate in the on-call coverage system on a rotating basis and work up to two evenings per week.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director and Leadership team.


What you need to qualify:

  • Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, or a related program in Psychology.

  • State licensure in Social Work or Counseling is required.

  • At least 8 years of related experience in a clinical setting with adolescents or young adults.

  • At least 3 years of clinical supervisory and leadership experience.
