JOB SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Director of Admissions for Art & Architecture, the primary role of the Assistant Director of Admissions is to serve as a key point of contact for prospective students and their families interested in the Irwin S. Chanin School of Architecture. This position plans and conducts admissions events and represents The Cooper Union at recruitment events. A key aspect of the role is to organize and facilitate the admissions process in collaboration with the School of Architecture Admissions Committee.
Working closely with faculty, the position also schedules, coordinates, and trains faculty engagement in the admissions process. Additionally, this position plays a key role in the development of recruitment strategies and works in collaboration with the admissions team to develop recruitment materials and communications for prospective students. The role manages the tracking and reporting of key recruitment/admissions metrics and makes recommendations based on results in order to achieve enrollment objectives. This position also has responsibilities in support of the School or Art and Engineering as needed and to recruitment efforts generally.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Represent The Cooper Union to prospective students, parents, teachers, and guidance counselors.
Serve as primary point of contact for assigned School admissions committee chair.
Schedule all committee meetings, note-taking, following review process timelines, and keeping track of all review and decision-making outcomes.
Schedule and travel to college recruitment fairs, and high school visits.
Coordinate multiple virtual info sessions and weekly student led tours.
Coordinate on-campus Open House event.
Set up and manage all virtual platform events.
Schedule and book travel for faculty/alumni recruiters.
Participate in the planning and implementation of multiple on-campus events.
Participate in design and updating of Slate recruitment, application, and admission system.
Slate implementation and training for faculty and Alumni users.
Using discretion and independent judgment, counsel students and parents regarding the financial aid application process.
Work with applicant pool throughout process from material submission to enrollment.
Assist with enrollment marketing communications. Ensure timely and accurate messaging to a variety of constituents including prospects, inquiries, applicants, current students, and parents.
Prepares reports on admissions requests using student information systems.
Performs other duties as assigned.
SKILLS/REQUIREMENTS
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Experience with data management. Slate preferred
Available nights and weekends
Driver's license and access to a car
A sense of humor and the ability to work in a fast paced, rapidly changing environment.
EDUCATION
Bachelor's Degree. Experience in Admissions/Higher Ed.
Preferred educational background in architecture or creative related field
This is a unionized position.
