Responsibilities Develops and implements processes for prioritization, approval, and production timelines of advancement communications projects.
Ensures that all written proposals, letters, and reports are highly personalized and engaging for major gift and planned giving donors and prospects, even under tight timelines.
Serves as the liaison to ensure brand standards and ADA compliance between Advancement Communications, external partners, and the University’s External Relations division.
Collaborates with External Relations to review, submit, and approve division collateral and messaging.
Acts as primary liaison with External Relations and/or third-party PR vendors for development-related materials distributed broadly (press releases, event invitations, feature articles).
Helps strategize and implement a unified voice across the division, including social media, and develops a communications plan highlighting philanthropy impact and alumni engagement.
Manages the implementation and staff training of departmental software and tools (e.g., Encompass, Ovrture, Hootsuite); maintains contracts and vendor relationships; evaluates platform effectiveness and recommends innovations.
Provides leadership in the Director’s absence and delegates work to staff per the Director’s directives.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Minimum education: Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field with five (5) years of related experience OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Valid driver’s license.
Special Conditions: First consideration given to current UofM employees and to those with experience in workflow management software and/or alumni marketing.
Work schedule: Monday – Friday 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.; evening/weekend hours and some travel may be required.
Working Conditions & Benefits Full-Time: Benefits Eligible.
Working conditions include sitting, typing, talking, walking; occasional standing, reaching, kneeling, or crouching; occasional lifting up to 10 pounds; and near/far vision.
Supervisory Responsibility: Supervises two full-time staff and student workers when applicable.
