The Keck School of Medicine (KSOM) of USC and Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA) Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine, Division of Genomic Medicine and Center for Personalized Medicine (CPM), seek an outstanding candidate with expertise in bioinformatics, data science and genomics for a full-time faculty position with clinical, research (clinical and translational), and teaching responsibilities at the Assistant Professor or Associate Professor level.
The successful candidate must hold a Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D. and have demonstrated accomplishments in Bioinformatics, Biological Sciences, Genetics, Genomics, or related fields. They should have in-depth knowledge of genomics and familiarity with cutting-edge methodologies and technologies applied to clinical care and discovery. Experience in developing and applying algorithms, analytic pipelines, software and AI/ML tools for whole-genome, whole-exome, panel sequencing, genotyping, RNA-Seq data, and liquid biopsy for clinical or research purposes is strongly desired. Computational expertise is preferred in areas such as web- and cloud-based bioinformatics NGS data analysis solutions, programming (Java, R, Perl, Python, etc.), database technologies (SQL Server, Oracle, MongoDB), and big data analytics. The candidate will join an experienced multi-disciplinary team of physicians, laboratorians, genetic counselors, bioinformaticians and scientists at CPM as the Assistant Director of Bioinformatics, and will develop, implement and maintain data infrastructure, software, analytic tools and pipelines enabling innovative genomic testing to support clinical care and discovery at CHLA.
Responsibilities
Fulfill clinical, research (clinical and translational), and teaching duties at USC and CHLA.
Join CPM as the Assistant Director of Bioinformatics and lead the development, implementation, and maintenance of data infrastructure, software, and analytic pipelines.
Develop web- and cloud-based bioinformatics solutions for next-generation sequencing data analysis and support genomic testing for clinical care and research.
Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of physicians, laboratorians, genetic counselors, bioinformaticians and scientists.
Qualifications
Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Biological Sciences, Genetics, Genomics, or related field.
Expertise in genomics and experience with cutting-edge methodologies and technologies used in clinical care and discovery.
Experience developing and applying algorithms, pipelines, software and AI/ML tools for sequencing data and liquid biopsy.
Programming skills (e.g., Java, R, Perl, Python) and knowledge of database technologies (SQL Server, Oracle, MongoDB) and big data analytics.

Compensation & Benefits The annual base salary range for this position is $250,000–$300,000.
