: Art Director
We are seeking an Art Director to take ownership of client-facing design conversations and champion strategic, segmentation-informed creative for email and SMS marketing campaigns.
Location: NYC (3 days in office a week and 2 remote).
Position type: Temp to Perm
Rate: $35-45/hr (temp period) and $80-90k (once full-time)
Key Responsibilities:
• Translate client strategy and segmentation insights into compelling, conversion-focused email and SMS designs.
• Present and explain design choices to clients, linking creative decisions to business goals and campaign strategy.
• Gather client feedback and communicate actionable insights to the Sr. Art Directors and production teams.
• Collaborate with copywriters and strategists to ensure seamless design and messaging integration.
• Create scalable, brand-consistent design systems in Figma that support personalization and segmentation needs.
• Develop visually engaging templates, layouts, and graphics optimized for various devices, email clients, and accessibility standards.
• Write compelling subject lines that grab attention and drive open rates, as well as SMS copy, and some light promotional email copy
• Stay current with design and email marketing trends and introduce new ideas into client presentations.
• Support concepting, style guides, and larger creative initiatives alongside Sr. Art Directors/Creative Directors.
• Manage multiple projects with shifting priorities while maintaining design quality and attention to detail.
• Mentor junior designers on performance-driven design and Figma workflows.
Requirements:
• 4-7 years of design experience with a strong focus on email/SMS marketing.
• Experience in CPG, Retail, or Beauty industries is a plus.
• Expert proficiency in Figma and Adobe Creative Suite; skilled in building and maintaining design systems.
• Strong understanding of segmentation, personalization, and testing impacts on creative work.
• Confidence in presenting design rationale directly to clients.
• Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams including strategy, copy, build, and account management.
• Able to balance design craft with performance-driven outcomes.
• Familiarity with AI tools that support creative workflows is preferred.
