As the Activities Director , you will be the heart of our community , leading a dynamic activities program that meets the social, emotional, and therapeutic needs of our residents. Your role will bring joy, connection, and enrichment to those we serve, making every day special for them.
What You’ll Be Doing:
Creative Program Development:
Plan, organize, and direct exciting activities tailored to residents’ interests, abilities, and care needs.
Ensure a variety of engaging options , including recreational, cultural, educational, and artistic programs .
Oversee and schedule individual and group activities seven days per week.
Care Planning & Compliance:
Oversee the completion of activity assessments as part of each resident’s comprehensive care plan .
Contribute to individualized care plan goals that enhance residents’ well-being.
Monitor and adjust activities to meet state and federal guidelines .
Resident Engagement & Advocacy:
Lead and manage the Resident Council , ensuring meetings run smoothly and resident concerns are addressed.
Provide one-on-one activities for residents who cannot or prefer not to participate in group events.
Ensure each resident is offered daily cognitive, recreational, and ADL activities based on their abilities.
Team Leadership & Volunteer Program:
Supervise and train activity staff, volunteers, and student interns to create an engaging environment.
Oversee the facility’s volunteer program , ensuring a safe and positive experience for all.
Assist in staff orientation, training, and performance evaluations.
Facility & Safety Oversight:
Ensure resident safety during activities, locking away potentially harmful items when not in use.
Coordinate transportation for residents to inside and outside facility activities .
Monitor services provided by Beauty Shop Operators to ensure a positive resident experience.
What We’re Looking For:
Experience in Care Planning – Required.
Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist or Qualified Activities Professional – Preferred.
Two years of experience in a social or recreational program, with at least one full-time year in a therapeutic activities setting .
Knowledge of state and federal regulations related to long-term care activity programs.
A passion for enhancing the lives of seniors through creative and meaningful engagement.
