Maven Communications, a 2025 winner of the Philadelphia Business Journal's Best Places to work designation and recognized as one of the region's 50 most community-minded companies by the Chamber of Commerce of Greater Philadelphia and Points of Light Foundation, is looking for a seasoned public relations professional to join our growing agency as an Account Director (AD).
The AD role is a senior, strategic leadership role at Maven, responsible for overseeing the development and execution of integrated communications strategies across multiple client accounts. This position combines strategic vision with hands-on execution, serving as the senior client liaison while managing and mentoring account teams to deliver exceptional results. The AD provides senior-level counsel to clients, drives strategic planning initiatives, and ensures the successful delivery of comprehensive PR and digital campaigns across diverse industries. This role requires proven leadership abilities, deep industry expertise, and the business acumen to manage complex client relationships while fostering team growth and development.
Primary Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Client Counsel
• Serve as the primary strategic contact for assigned clients, providing senior-level counsel and guidance on communications strategy and business objectives
• Lead the development of comprehensive, integrated communications strategies that align with client goals and deliver measurable business impact
• Provide thought leadership and strategic guidance on industry trends, emerging opportunities, and communications innovation
• Present strategic recommendations and campaign results to C-suite executives and senior client stakeholders
• Anticipate client needs and proactively identify opportunities for strategic growth and campaign enhancement
Account & Client Management
• Oversee multiple client accounts simultaneously, ensuring exceptional service delivery and client satisfaction
• Manage complex client relationships at the highest level, serving as trusted advisor and strategic partner
• Lead client meetings, presentations, and strategic planning sessions with senior stakeholders
• Develop and present comprehensive campaign recommendations, quarterly reviews, and strategic planning documents
• Monitor resource allocation and hours while ensuring efficient project delivery
• Identify and pursue opportunities for account growth, expansion, and service enhancement
• Ensure all client deliverables meet Maven's quality standards and are delivered on time and within budget
Team Leadership & Development
• Provide guidance and professional development opportunities for junior team members
• Conduct performance evaluations, set professional development goals, and support career advancement
• Foster a collaborative, high-performance team environment that encourages innovation and creative problem-solving
• Delegate responsibilities effectively while maintaining oversight of all account activities and deliverables
• Serve as a resource and mentor for account teams across the agency, sharing expertise and best practices
Strategic Communications & Media Relations
• Oversee the development and execution of sophisticated media relations strategies across traditional, digital, and emerging platforms
• Cultivate and maintain relationships with journalists, editors, influencers, and industry thought leaders
• Lead crisis communications planning and execution when required
• Guide the creation of compelling, strategic content including thought leadership pieces, bylined articles, and executive positioning materials
• Ensure all communications materials align with client brand voice, strategic objectives, and industry best practices
• Monitor industry trends and competitive landscape to inform strategic recommendations and campaign optimization
Digital Media
• Basic knowledge on the development of digital media planning, execution, optimization and analysis across multiple channels as it ties into larger communications campaigns
• Comfort with overseeing digital campaign pacing and performance monitoring with KPI tracking
• Manage budget allocation and delivery optimization

• Analytical Thinking: Ability to interpret data, measure campaign effectiveness, and translate insights into strategic recommendations
• Adaptability: Comfortable with change, able to quickly learn new industries and platforms, and thrive in a dynamic agency environment
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in public relations, communications, marketing, journalism, or a related field
• 9-11 years of public relations or communications experience, with significant agency experience preferred
• Proven track record of managing successful PR and digital campaigns
• Demonstrated experience in team leadership
• Experience with hours management and resource allocation
• Proficiency with industry tools, project management systems, and the full Microsoft Office suite
